Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
As I posted on June 27, I am in the process of weaning off the 2 mg NeuPro patch and am using a small dose of clonazepan. I went from the 2 mg patch to the 1 mg patch on Monday June 29 and will use my last patch on Sunday July 12. I thought the smaller dose would cause me lots of rls but after a few...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
But what do you do if you have a doctor who is unwilling to give a strong opioid? Even if I went to
Dr.B, I would still have to find a specialist here in Ontario who would be willing to give me the
opioid he prescribed. Many of us end up toughing it out because we have no other practical choice.

Jaybird8: I am going to see Dr.Earley on Sept.1 for a consult. I realize he's not too keen on helping agents but I feel I need something or I won't make it. For help in getting off the 2 mg Neupro patch, see my above posting for June 27. I hope I have it out of my system by Sept.1.I started the 1 mg...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
I want to get off the augmented 2 mg Neupro patch but of course this is easier said than done. I recently went to a local neurologist who I discovered from the RLS Foundation 's search engine treats RLS. He agrees that I need to get off the patch. He is proposing that I wean off the 2 mg patch by go...

Rustsmith: Like NatWest, I haven't heard of any DUI's around here (southern Ontario) because of MM. I just wish the stuff I ordered would arrive so I could test it out. I look forward to the day when MM is available in the same way as it is in Colorado You are okay if you make oils and edibles yours...

Re: Medical Marijuana
NatWest: Here in Canada, we can only legally buy the dried marijuana plant which is put in a vaporizer and the fumes are inhaled. It is not possible to buy the edibles or cannabis oil but it is no longer illegal to have them if you make them yourself.I have ordered the following for vaporizing from ...

Re: Medical Marijuana
I am only on the 2 mg patch. The 3 mg. patch is the highest recommended level. When 2 mg began to work less well, I went up to 4 mg but didn't see a lasting benefit. I returned to 2 mg because of fear of augmentation. The higher the dose the greater the chance of augmentation and the greater the dif...

Re: Medical Marijuana
The urge to move is quite uncontrollable. It involves my legs, my arms and my torso. It is as if someone were jabbing me with a cattle prod. I put the patch on at 9:00 p.m. It used to last 24 hours and give me relative relief. Now I get some rls breakthrough as soon as early afternoon although it is...

Re: Medical Marijuana
NatWest: May I ask what you now take for your rls? I have been approved for MM and am waiting for the arrival of my order of MM. I plan to use it to blunt the effects of the augmented Neupro patch which are quite severe. If MM works for this, then I will use it to help me withdraw from the patch. On...

Re: Medical Marijuana
NatWest: Thanks for the info. I read many of the google posts and came to the same conclusion that long-term cannabis usage does not result in permanent changes in dopamine levels. I also wonder if marijuana will provide any relief for those withdrawing from dopamine agonists. Here in Canada it is h...

Re: Medical Marijuana
I am trying to understand the effect of medical marijuana on dopamine production. While marijuana appears to stimulate the production of dopamine in the short term, I get the impression that the chronic use of marijuana may eventually blunt the response of the body to dopamine. This suggests that th...

Re: Dopamine agonist withdrawal
If one uses an opioid for dopamine withdrawal, how does one get off the opioid?
Is it difficult and how long does it take? I think that I have read that getting off
an opioid will itself trigger rls. Is this correct?

Steve: I am not quite sure from your posting why you do not still take Lunesta as it seems the
least problematic of all the options.

There is a neurologist in Atlanta, Dr.Lynn Mari Trotti, who I believe works with Dr. Rye. Although I don't know her personally, my wife and I are friends of her parents. In fact, my wife and her mother been friends for at least 60 years. Dr Trotti is a Professor of Neurology at Emory University and ...

Has anyone tried medical marijuana as a "covering agent" for getting off a dopamine agonist?
