Re: Low-Sulfur Diet
I did a search of the forum and found loads on ketogenic diets... legsbestill & Steve, I considered the ketogenic diet after my doctor said, "you need to go on the ketogenic diet" but I couldn't get past all the information I was learning about high glutamates in dairy and meat which ...

Re: New here looking for guidance.
devn67, just an opinion...medications are very tricky from them not working, to uncomfortable side effects, to withdrawal symptoms from "scaling back." If something was working well for me like Tramadol is for you, there is no way I would be open to trying a new medication. If you feel the...

Re: Our Amazon purchases can support the RLS Foundation
It's been a month since I joined AmazonSmile to support the RLS Foundation and my total contribution is $4.03...I imagine that buys a cup of coffee for some brilliant researcher looking for a medication for us that doesn't cause augmentation!

Re: New here looking for guidance.
Great advice...I'm wondering, would a doctor at one of the RLS Quality Care Centers be willing to keep a patient on Tramadol if it's working? Or Dr Buchfuhrer?

Re: Bioidentical Progesterone...improved my sleep
Yes, it can be expensive but I wouldn't let that stop you, especially if it means feeling and sleeping better. Currently, my progesterone pills cost $30/month and the tube of cream costs $30 and lasts me about two months. From my experience, I'm at the starting level because I haven't reached menopa...

Re: Seeking RLS doc in Portland
...If that does not work, look into what would be necessary to travel to the nearest medical school. The doctors at theses schools seem to be less afraid of writing opioid prescriptions than doctors in small practices or who work under the umbrella of a local hospital. Steve, could you explain the ...

Re: Two hours of sleep
That's one of my biggest challenges every day...drinking water is the last thing I have interest in but know it's so important (if it was coffee, every last drop would be gone and I'd be wondering where it all went). Straws and setting out the entire amount you need to drink for the day really does ...

yawny and legs, I have found all of this to be very interesting because I had the opposite problem... Wow, Steve, that's quite a reaction to thyroid medication. And then to have your numbers stay the same after stopping medication. I've heard some interesting thyroid related stories but this one ta...

travel & opiods
Yankiwi, thanks for the detailed description of your trip...it really helps one get a sense of how to travel with RLS. I haven't traveled for several years because I'm dependent on MM to sleep. I asked my neurologist for drug options and he gave me a trial of Baclofen and Vicodin. I've tried the Bac...

Re: Bioidentical Progesterone...improved my sleep
Exactly, I don't take any breaks from the cream and that works the best for me. I do have to add that after starting the cream, during the first 3-4 days, I was very emotional and "difficult to be around" (my husband's inflammatory words). But it was all good after that!

Re: 'Sleep attack'
Thanks, yawny. I didn't think of that. Would that also cause the massive drop in appetite which I have also experienced? Maybe I will go back to my GP. I have had so many false dawns there that I look for reasons not to go ... Yes, hypothyroidism can definitely cause a drop in appetite but it can a...

Re: 'Sleep attack'
Legs, that must be very difficult...my husband and I discussed your case and we both thought "thyroid!" But that's our experience so we're biased. Years ago, my husband experienced what you described, before his Hashimoto's hypothyroidism was diagnosed. He spent several months in the state...

Carol, that's frustrating, I'm so sorry. Your experience is exactly what happened to me when I first got started with MM. It activated my brain, I couldn't sleep and I was miserable. From my experience, and what stoners at the dispensary have told me, Sativa doesn't necessarily activate your brain o...

My patience was lost quickly with this method...I just make a bitter mash and deal with the flavor, lol! Ann, the more I learn about you, the more I realize you're a lot tougher than I am (meant as a sincere compliment)! That mash would have to be rolled in chocolate and then embedded in a cheesebu...
