Re: Renegade doctor?

The doc was on the same wavelength as you regarding ferratin levels. My lastest reading was 97. She wanted to see it above 100.

Re: Renegade doctor?

Goodness. Now my head is messed up good. I did not see any of the three doctors I had written to. I saw a fourth doctor, Dr Darakul. She is a fairly young woman, just back from maternity leave. She is a neurologist specialising in sleep disorders, including WED. She told me I was going in the wrong ...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Good question. I will hear from them one way or another because I can make appointments to see one or more of them. I think I will call one of them today. The real question is whether they will have any useful suggestions. If I simply cannot tolerate the morphine, then I think am in trouble. It's no...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Hi, all. Thanks for the well wishes. I had to pause the withdrawal. Halfway through Week 2, It seems that I had a reaction to the morphine, or the morpine interacted with another drugs in my system.Mucho complicaciones. At first I thought the problem drug was the kratom since I had started to take i...

Re: Renegade doctor?

I am just finishing Week 1. It has been rough, but manageable. The first two days were pretty easy, but not the last five. For week 1, I lowered my dose of pramipexole to 0.375mg (from 0.75mg) taken in the evening. And I maintained my dose of 100mg tramadol in the evening. I seem to have settled int...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Hi, again. I started the withdrawal on Friday night, cutting my dose of pramipexole from 0.75mg to 0.375mg. The first night was better than I expected. My legs bothered me more than they had been bothering me, to be sure, but not all that much more. I didn't get the wild jerkiness I got a while back...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Here's an update: The psychotherapist wants me to start at the 10mg dose of morphine. It is an ER version of the pill. He prescribed the pills, but the hospital pharmacy was out of them, so I now have to wait until 28 March (or later) to start the withdrawal.... My neurologist advised tapering off t...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Qyx, I haven't started yet. I took time off from that project to enjoy a bout of bronchitis. It may be another week or two before I start. I will certainly keep everyone posted.

Re: Renegade doctor?

A question for QyX: Can you elaborate on why fentanyl would not be useful for the withdrawal? The psychotherapist I consulted seemed to be leaning towards fentanyl as his recommendation. (Of course, this doctor knows little of WED.)

Re: Renegade doctor?

Hi again. I found a doctor who is prepared to prescribe me a narcotic to help me get off pramipexole! I didn't think much of my chances of getting this to happen, but there you go... He said that the local hospital has only morphine. But then when he (Dr Anuparb) listed the four ways of administerin...

Re: Renegade doctor?

That is good advice, thanks. Oddly, most drugs, including the benzos, are available here over the counter. Narcotics and sleeping pills are the exception. I was on clonazepam long term a few years ago. I went off because I found it had lost its effectiveness. I had a terrible time coming off; my sym...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Beth, I only saw your post of 20 February after I posted myself today. Somehow, I had missed it. I am not taking a big dose of kratom and I don't take it every day. So it is possible that a larger or more frequent dose would help see me through pramipexole withdrawal, or at least help a little. Then...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Hi, guys. I thought it was time I provided an update. After two weeks of side effects from gabapentin, I gave up. I am now taking pregabalin (as the third drug in my cocktail, after pramipexole ER and tramadol). I started on 25 mg, upped it to 50 mg and then 75 mg pretty quickly, and am now at 100 m...

Re: Renegade doctor?

I have some questions for jul2873 who posted earlier in this thread about kratom. I have tried it and I find that taking about one tsp of the powder gives me relief for about two hours. Of course, I am taking it in addition to my pramipexole ER and my tramadol. I can't very easily stop either or bot...

Re: Renegade doctor?

Time for an update from me. After 13 days on the gabapentin 100mg, I came to the conclusion that the side effects – dizziness, difficulty focusing, etc. – were just too much. I went to see the neurologist, expecting him to recommend that we give pregabalin (Lyrica) a try. Earlier, he had suggested t...
