Plane seats

Re: Plane seats The good news is that hubby and I got free plane tickets to London. Yeah! The bad news is that I have to figure out how to survive 13 hours of flying each way. The ticketing agent told me a prescription from my doc because of RLS wouldn’t enable me to have a bulkhead seat “because th...

Steroid Meds

I was wondering if anyone has had steroids affect their RLS, via Prednisone pills or joint injections– for the good or bad. I haven’t seen it mentioned on the board anywhere.

I think I’d rather be in pain than have an RLS flair.

Thanks,
Eliza

Joyce, Re-reading my post, it doesn’t sound like I intended. I did not mean the AF Board would be better than this board for your questions, rather, it would add insights with regard to rheumatoid arthritis. This board is the place when it comes to RLS. You’ll not find more caring people than right ...

Hi Joyce, I know of at least one person who has rheumatoid arthritis and also RLS. I know she takes clonazepam for the RLS and it works well for her. You might want to post on the Arthritis Foundation's rheumatoid arthritis discussion board. She is very active there as are lots of others taking the ...

It's possible that even simple iron suppliments could help. You might want to have your doc check your ferritin (stored iron) levels.

Hi Rubyslipper, I think it's admirable that you're doing this project. These are friends here too and so it seems a reasonable place to ask for advice. One thing you might try would be to contact all of your social service groups, such as Lions, Soroptimists, Rotary, etc. If you could do a little pr...

Nancy,

Please keep in touch about ways you manage both tourette's and RLS at the same time. Your insights could be relevant and important to us all.

I'm so glad you have a good neurologist. One that is willing to go out of their way to research is a godsend!

Thanks for posting,
Eliza

Nancyhugh, It sounds like you’d be the perfect person for those studies Ann was talking about. Does anyone know how many of us have both Tourette’s and RLS? If I were a researcher, that would be my first question. If dopamine is swinging like a pendulum, why don’t more of us have both, especially af...

Hm – that is interesting about the ibuprofen not affecting RLS. It’s a good thing that is the typical case since it’s such a great NSAID. I guess I just don’t respond in the typical way to many meds. Plaquenel is the drug that finally triggered my RLS. Yet, even though it had me writhing in agony wi...

Hi Charlene, Yep, I’m still here – checking in at least once every day. This RLS seems to be an ever-changing mystery with me. This last month mine went crazy; all day, all over. I didn’t realize until I stopped taking ibuprofen (so I could take Tylenol) that that was the cause. Oh my goodness, it w...

Josh, my feet definitely affect my RLS. It makes a huge difference what shoes I wear. I discovered this after getting a new pair of really nice hiking boots. Now I always wear shoes with major arch supports or inserts. In fact, shoes with no arch support will bring on a bout of RLS with me. Interest...

I have a buzzing sensation that sounds just like what you describe. In fact, it was the first thing that happened to me in the series that led to the restless part of RLS. There are 5 separate sensations I experience now, either in combinations or separately. The buzzing in legs, arms, hands and fee...

Pergolide and Cabergoline (Permax, Dostinex)

Did anyone notice the AP article on the Parkinson’s / RLS drugs Pergolide and Cabergoline? The article titled “Parkinson’s drugs may be riskier than thought” says that a recent study shows there are irreversable heart valve problems similar to those associated with fen-phen. According to the article...

Hi Lynne,

That sounds horrible. When you say "uncontrollable movements in arms, hands, neck, shoulders, etc. as well as legs," it makes me wonder if you might have something else going on. Could you have another movement disorder in addition to RLS?
