Yes, that usually does the trick -- I reckon I just didn't mention that I am taking methadone, too. That and iron form an amazing partnership for binding.

Most of us with RLS of long-standing become “experts” in our own manifestation. A visit with Dr. B is a good reminder that while we are knowledgeable and savvy we are not professionals. He respects input absolutely, but in my experience, begins as one would with any new patient – assuming nothing an...

Zach, you do bring such clarity to this issue – your “rambles” have much more the character of a 400 meter sprint in the way you focus on what works and why. I ramble; you elucidate!

"polydrug"! I love that - it sounds kind of Willy Wonka-ish.

So do I hear you saying that methadone may be a one-way trip?

Thank you, Polar Bear. What you detailed is so very helpful. Generally I, too, try to edit e-mails and posts for brevity, but here, the more detail the better. I think most of us are usually too tired to fill in the blanks. It does truly help to have your experience spelled out. I am grateful. This ...

It’s August now – over a month, PB, since you started a change in meds.. How’s it going? I’ve just read your unfolding story in this thread – it is a gripping one – and if you feel like sharing where you are now, that would be a gift. I’m particularly interested, having just posted the new thread “M...

Methadone to Tramadol?

Recognizing that almost anything one might try has some kind of fall out, I am wondering if switching from methadone to Tramadol might ameliorate the persistent drowsiness I continue to experience with methadone. If anyone could share experience with tramadol, what have you found? What has been an e...

Thanks, Aiken. I think I get it now. And the caveat about the opioid receptors is good info to have, too. I’ll do some experimenting when my schedule looks flat. (No matter how poorly one’s plan is working, at least it’s familiar and one knows where the bumps in the road will be. So sometimes it’s e...

Aiken posted the following. June 14 "Has anyone given up on daytime meds?": "If I … just took methadone, I'd need to take a big dose of methadone to cover my evening peaks. …..you can see why I got drowsy during the day, because I've got about twice as much methadone on board while I...

The red-line/blue-line drawings make a bit of sense, but I’m not a graphic organizer thinker so much as a verbal thinker. I started methadone in January and have been taking 10 mg late evening. I have been awakening around midnight - without symptoms – since about March or April. Now I’m awakening w...

You are all so knowledgeable and articulate. It’s great to have a place to learn through socially constructed experience (edu-babble - sorry). I thought I understood my rls (family history, symptoms increasing over the years) but never considered that I might now be experiencing peripheral neuropath...

doety: I’ve been taking methadone since January and can say my sleep feels as if it is of a better quality that when I was on Mirapex/Ambien for four years. I feel more like myself. I’m now pretty sure I will have to increase to 12.5 mg from 10mg. as I’m waking at midnight a couple of times a week w...
