Re: I'm new and want to share my experience
I can so relate to doctors who don't listen and the beauty in finding one who does. I am so sorry for the pain and suffering you are forced to endure, but the moderators here are the best resources on the web. If they haven't lived it, or taken it, or know about it, they can find someone who has, is...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects
I am taking out a loan to pay off my highest interest rate credit card and my current medical debt. The credit card is 18% and the loan interest rate is 2.35%. That card will be shredded. I have 2 others that I am paying $500 each to pay down. I plan to make additional principal payments when I can....

Re: Trying to stop Mirapex
Desperate D, After the initial detox, for the first month, the oxy controlled my WED 99%. I am building up a tolerance to it and while it still works, some nights are worse than others when it comes to total control of my symptoms. I will find out tomorrow what opiates have been doing to my sleeping...

Re: Trying to stop Mirapex
Desperate D, I recently went thru withdrawls. I made it a week trying to taper before I decided if tapering was that bad, I was just going to go cold turkey. I have issues with low blood pressures and low heart rates, so I was limited to 10 mg of oxycodone per day. I chose to take all 10 mg at night...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects
I finally admitted to my parents that I, post Mirapex, was left with $11,000 of credit card debt. I am going to have to take out a loan to pay it back. The thought of going back on it terrifies me. We were figuring my monthly bills, my health is so poor, I now need $215 in maintenance drugs per mont...

Re: Pramipexole
I also am leery of the cost. I can't afford having 3 meds that are $65 per month.

Re: Pramipexole
I'm kinda looking forward to trying pramipexole again at a low dose. Oxy is nice for pain, but when when you have the crawlies, it's not very helpful .

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects
Speaking only for myself, they thought I lacked willpower. It wasn't that I didn't want to eat the right foods or that I didn't know how to make healthy choices. I knew, I just lacked the ability to override the force that was pulling me in the other direction. I didn't gamble, but all that food ove...

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects
I hadn't put 2 and 2 together until this morning as I was walking my dog. Slowly but surely I am making better food choices, putting food down when I am full, not craving fast foods or cakes, cookies, donuts etc. It finally dawned on me this was yet another aspect of pramipexole I forgot about. Eati...

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The drug holiday itself kinda sucks, but it's worth every agonizing moment once you get to the other side.

Re: Pramipexole
I also had been on it for 10 years. I took 1.5 mg morning and night and my neuro, or should i say my former neuro, thought that was a low dose. Honestly, if I hadn't had the support from some key ppl here, namely Ann, some very understanding coworkers who carried me and still do some days, precious ...

Re: Pramipexole
Thank you, Doety. My story, for now is a happy one. I have a doctor who listens and is willing to learn about augmentation while she helps me thru it. I have been pramipexole free for 3 weeks and she is going to give my body another month off of it before she starts me back on it at a very low dose ...
