Please share your experiences, successes, and failures in using non-drug therapies for RLS/WED (methods of relief that don't involve swallowing or injecting anything), including compression, heat, light, stretches, acupuncture, etc. Also under this heading, medical interventions that don't involve the administration of a medicine to the body (eg. varicose-vein operations, deep-brain stimulation). restlesslegscure.com and similar sites

Post by Robin-Whittle »

This message is to record the fact that the site:

http://www.restlesslegscure.com
(also http://www.answerfound.com/restlesslegs.htm)

offers a downloadable "eBook", for USD$29.95, (it was
$19.95 in August 2004) which according to all reports
recommends the reduction of salt (sodium) as a "cure"
for RLS. While high sodium may be a factor in causing
RLS, I think reducing it is unlikely to "cure" RLS.

I haven't read this book, but I want to mention the
following sites by the same authors, Jeffrey and Marie
Goodwin, of Turning Point Publications, to help people
decide for themselves on the likely motivations and
expertise behind www.restlesslegscure.com . I found
these by Googling.

http://www.answerfound.com/cureconstipation.htm
"Breakthrough Discovery Cures Constipation Forever"
Downloadable eBook USD$29.95.

http://www.orgasmeverytime.com
http://answerfound.com/vo/vaginal_orgasm_every_time.htm
"A Dream Come True - Vaginal Orgasm Every Time".
Downloadable eBook USD$12.95.

http://www.sexasnatureintendedit.com
"Penis Circumcision Harms Adult Sexuality
and Women are its Primary Victims"
Book by "Kristen O'Hara with Jeffrey O'Hara",
USD$14.00 + Postage.
Same PO box address as the above sites.

Dear Robin,

I believe that it is policy to not post information relating to selling of products. It would better serve us if you could post how these books, items etc have helped you. Your personal experience is worth more than you would know in showing how these items were successful in assisting you.

Myself I tend to look at the site, and I must admit take little stock in a site limited to selling A DREAM COME TRUE, LOOK NO MORE, A FINAL CURE...

I believe their sole intention is money.

However, I do think that there are many sites [ .org ] which are non profit and recommend helpful articles, books, and items which have testimonies and been used by others and found to be helpful possibly less suspicious and more relevant.

Robin, it sounds like you are suggesting that this is a scam, am I understanding this correctly? I, too, like Hazel at first thought you were promoting these items for sale, but since I know your posts, I thought that unlikely.

Scam alert: restlesslegscure.com and similar sites

Post by Robin-Whittle »

Yes, I think these sites and the wares they sell are a scam!

Wry understatement can easily be misinterpreted when it is
conveyed through plain text, without the facial expressions,
nuances of vocal delivery etc. . . . particularly when the
reader is up past their bedtime, as I often am!

Marie Goodwin has been flogging this book to death for a couple of years now.

Robin, I am with you on this ... I totally disagree with the way Marie Goodwin advertises that she's found a "Cure", as we all know, there is no cure, only relief.

There have also been a few posts on the RLS Discussion Board regarding the "answersfound" site previously:

The first link has a copy of a review of the book which was published in an early edition of Nightwalkers ... an interesting read!

Then there was the infamous Calmax (calcium & magnesium) hard sell

Crawling back into my downunder mouse-hole before i do a "clutch in & change feet" kinda thing here  (i.e. some of our best "Troll" encounters are in these posts!)

Happy reading!!

There may be relief, but sometimes it's not easy to find, either---- :(

It's a good thing that we have people who post these things, Robin, so we'll all be on the lookout!

I shoulda clarified that "relief" bit a bit better!

Jan is totally right ... Relief is more often than not the hardest thing to come by and I believe a more frustratingly painful process than the road to a cure ever will be.

Cure's are created in labs ...

Finding Relief though is a personal journed of sheer frustration, determinedness and willpower (and a lot of tears along the way) ...

(((((HUGGLES))))) to you my dear friend ... I know you're going through a rough time! Thinking of you always!!

Oh Nadia

You defined relief just fine. I'm just having a bad spell right now. :( I'm back to the point of not being able to sit through a movie, ride in a car---without suffering from RLS. So, I'm embarking on a new theory--- I take my meds with me all the time and pop one or 1/2 one when I feel the %^&*()&*( coming.

I have to tell you all---my husband has been nothing but wonderful! We've had our journies---but he is so understanding and thoughtful now. Last night, coming back from St. Louis, he noticed how bad I was in the car. He said that we were going to pull over and get my meds out of the back (I keep them in a locked box). He watches me like a hawk. I have him and my family completely on my side and totally understanding finally.

I, I know I have such wonderful friends here. Nadia, we've both been on a few journies, haven't we? Without friends like you and my other wonderful friends here, I don't know what I would do!!!

"Huggles" right back!
