Holland? RLS, Any one who had it but now not anymore?

Please share your experiences, successes, and failures in using non-drug therapies for RLS/WED (methods of relief that don't involve swallowing or injecting anything), including compression, heat, light, stretches, acupuncture, etc. Also under this heading, medical interventions that don't involve the administration of a medicine to the body (eg. varicose-vein operations, deep-brain stimulation). Hi everybody,

I'm from the Netherlands and here is almost nothing available about RLS.
The doctor told me to live with RLS he couldn't do anything.
It sometimes really drives me crazy! At that point i would choop of my legs..
Is there anyone who has a solution??

Hi dropkick and welcome to the group

Sorry you are here but glad that you have found us.

The best advice i can give you is to read all the information you can find here, then armed with information try approaching your doc again.

There are international links under SUPPORT GROUPS which may be able to give you more information about healthcare for rls in your country

Hope this is of help to you

Oh by the way, if you could give more information on symptoms etc go to new to rls /new members and current members please help,we are trying to gather as much as possible to help sufferers everywhere.(my bio is on page 1) It also makes it easier for those who help with medical knowledge to know your current sypmtoms and medications and to reply to you

Many thanks

I think I would gather all the info I could, like my friend suggested but then I would go to a different doctor. Try a neurologist or just call around to see who knows about RLS. Even if they aren't an "expert", if they are willing to do research then give them a try. Sounds like your doctor is lazy or doesn't believe you. Don't waste your time there.

RLS in Holland

Post by cornelia »

Hi dropkick, I'm from Holland.
If you need a RLS-specialist, you can mail me privately on jjalgera@xs4all.nl
I have severe RLS and I agree: the best thing is to read the international boards, but we have one too: www.stichting-restless-legs.org.nl
So now there are 2 of us on this board from such a small country!
