I have found that I get at least temporary relief from RLS by lying face down across my bed with my head and shoulders hanging down over the edge of the bed. In this position I can place a book or video game on the floor and either read or amuse myself. Relief usually comes in about 10 minutes and I flex my knees and wave my feet until the RLS subsides. The head-down position is not the most comfortable, but its considerably more restful than walking the halls.

That works for me as well but not to often.
I've tried three prescribed meds and two homoeopathic pills and they don't
do a thing for me, so far the only thing that works, and this goes into
effect rite away is marijuana. I was a three or four joints a day smoker
so I didn't really notice my RLS except when I didn't have any pot for a
few days or didn't smoke anything just before going to bed, but two years
ago when I decided to quite smoking pot I started noticing my RLS almost
every night and it is very strong as in you don't get sleep so I started
smoking again but now I only smoke half a joint just before going to bed.
I'm not telling anyone to start smoking pot but for me it's the only thing
that works. When I go to bed at 11:00pm and I'm awaken at 1:00am or
3:00am I want to get back to within 20min not an hour or two so I smoke
a little pot and I'm back to sleep in no time and my day at work is not
effected by lack of sleep.
I'm still looking for other ways to get relief because I want to quit smoking
but until I find something that works just as fast and effective as pot and
doesn't have bad side effects I'll smoke my pot and sleep well.
For those that smoke pot already and still have RLS make sure you smoke
a little just before you go to bed. This method only requires a little not the
whole joint.
Hope this helps somebody.
