DIY Sleep Harness (video)

Hi all!

I’ve had RLS for about three years, and it drives me beyond reason. I’ve been on pramipexole for a while, but I’m starting to get augmentation.

Hence: the sleep harness.

As you will see, this is a device which you can easily make yourself from cheap bits and pieces (total cost less than £20). You may well have some bits already. I’ve been using it recently, and it makes one heck of a difference.

It works by preventing the legs from completely straightening by means of a leather ribbon attached to a shoulder harness (not as scary as it sounds, honest). Because the legs are held in tension, you can use the natural flexure of the knee joint to ‘press’ onto the foot. This stresses the ankle joint, gently and continuously: it’s like a ‘floating floor’ under your foot - it feels as if you’re standing up.

No one else has tested this yet, only me. So I can only say it works for me. It doesn’t stop it completely, but it gives you some real control over it.

Give it a shot!

VIDEO TO COME SOON :-)

Can’t figure out how to delete a post. I’ve taken this down from youtube, pending improvements in safety and comfort. I’ll put a new video up when I’ve got a better version.
