Very Sad

My son in law passed away yesterday. He was a Lt. Col. in the Army, over 20 years.
He had esophageal cancer. Suffered for 2 years. Had been treated for reflux.
If anyone is taking meds for that, make sure you get periodic esophagus scopes. It's the only way. Otherwise by the time symptoms show up it's usually too late. Middle ages men are high risk.
He has left his wife and two children, age 13 and 15.

Hi Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about your son-in-law, a beloved member of your family. That is very sad for your daughter and two teenaged grandchildren.
Thanks for the tip on getting esophagus scopes.

Aah... dear dear. I am so sorry to hear this, so sad when someone so loved has to leave us.
His wife and children will find everything a blur just now, my heart goes out to you and to them.

debs - I find this poem comforting and hope it does not offend.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Oh, Deb. So, so sorry for your loss. His wife and kids must be beside themselves.

Thank you for the warning. My husband has been taking something for reflux for years. He has regular colonoscopies (celiac), but not uppers! His dr wanted one last fall and he said no. I am telling him right now to make an appointment!
