sleep issues

Anything on your mind that isn't about WED/RLS? It's nice to realize that there is life beyond this disease and have an opportunity to get to know our online family in a different context.

This leads me to believe that when they say that WED only occurs when awake, what they really they mean is that there is NO way our bodies can stay asleep with it happening. - we MUST be awake when it's active, eve if it started while we were sleeping.
What they really mean is that they haven't discussed it enough with those of us who experience it.

Just to update, I have been on the amitriptyline for fibro and especially for sleep for about ten weeks. Started at 10mg, upped to 20mg, and last night upped to 30mg. My sleep is so much better, usually just one awakening which is brief and I get back over to sleep, averaging about 7 hours.

If the dose of 30mg does not improve on the one/two awakenings that I have during the night, then there is no reason to keep it at 30mg and I may go back down to 20mg.

I had refused amitriptyline from the doc several times as I was so afraid of it and it was in desperation that I agreed to try it, having first gotten the doc's ok to up my tramadol if it gave me a bad time and until I could see her.

Fingers crossed that it continues to have no effect on the WED.

Great news, PB!

And a wonderful reminder that we shouldn't refuse anything even if it does have adverse effects on some people. Sure, avoid the things that affect 80-100% of us! But, trying the ones that affect 50% or less mean that there is a 50/50 or better chance that it WILL work.

For whatever reason despite having taken 30mg amitriptyline last night I didn't get to sleep until 4am. So got only 4 hours last night. I guess there still has to be a hiccup now and again.

I took a capsule of melatonin at bed time-just once in my life, many years ago. I didn't sleep a wink all night.I've heard other people say the same thing.
