Anything on your mind that isn't about RLS? It's nice to realize that there is life beyond this disease and have an opportunity to get to know our online family in a different context.

brain tumors and kemo

Post by rthom »

We have another death coming up in a few days but my question is about the kemo. He has brain tumors and has a lot of burns on his scalp from the kemo. Anyone had experience with these burns?

Usually the burns are from radiation treatment - is he having that as well as chemotherapy?

If it is from radiation is it normal? His scalp is a real mess and of course makes him really uncomfortable.

Yes, unfortunately burns at the treatment site are normal, as is nausea and hair loss. His doctor should be able to suggest something to help, or the nurses (they usually know the ins-and-outs of what helps people feel better).

Apparently there is not much that will help and his whole head is pretty much covered--makes you wonder which is worse, the cure or the cause. (he is not to survive apparently)
