Dry Needling

Postby Sojourner » Sat May 03, 2014 5:41 am

Anyone ever been treated with this technique. I recently was treated with dry needling accompanied by intramuscular electrical stimulation for condition unrelated to WED. Just had it done today so am feeling a bit bruised and am not sure I noticed any immediate relief. However, the PT who performed the procedure said that he could notice some immediate effects based on seeing how various muscles (in my back/neck) had relaxed. For me, probably on a level 6/7 in terms of comfort but I am one of those needle/phobes to begin with. The electrical stimulation was perhaps a little more uncomfortable until the proper "range" was achieved and then it felt a bit more like the feeling you would get from a TENS unit. Have to consider whether I would like to undertake a series of treatments. Here's some general info:

Dry needling is used for myofascial trigger points. Which is similar to what your site was saying.

I haven't used dry needling yet. I was recently almost incapacitated by several of them in my shoulder, but I have them in my legs, hips, back, shoulders, arms, neck, and scalp.
