Anyone else get a security warning when logging into the discussion board? I use Firefox and get a "This site may not be secure" (or words to that effect) every time.

I'm using Firefox and have been getting this security warning for quite some time.

The issue is that the website asks for a password and uses an http: web address and not the more https: designation. We have spoken to the Foundation about this to see if we can get the security upgraded, but this is something that they have to take up with their IT provider (and it is just one item in a long list of issues with that provider).

Since Firefox added this, i get warnings on 90% of the sites I visit. Glad to know that the Foundation is working it :-).

I just got a response back from the Foundation. Their server company wants $1200 to switch us to an https: server plus an additional $100/yr for the site license. I told them that in my opinion that cost is outrageous.

So, it looks like we will just have to continue to put up with security warnings from Firefox.

The Foundation doesn't have unlimited funds and to do an extra click to get past the warning is not a problem to me when the alternative is $1200 plus yearly fee.
Thanks Steve.

You can also use Tor browser. Tor disguises your internet connection by putting it through several "relays" in other countries, in effect disguising your IP address. I never get that nonsecure warning when I'm using Tor.

If you do use Tor, you will need to click on the "s" in the upper left hand corner and choose "allow Java scripts on this site." Also, sometimes I've found while using Tor with this site that it wants me to log in twice. So it seems like I'm going to lose my post. But, if you hit the back button, you can go back and copy your post, then sign in again like it wants you to, and then paste it and post it.

This sounds very complicated, but it's really not. I love using Tor, it's great for privacy. Sometimes it runs a little slower, but it's worth it.
