Update on Denny's dr appts.

Post by ctravel12 »

Well Denny had his two appts. this week. On Tuesday (6-26) he saw the heart specialist and he said that he is healing real good. He also said if he wanted to go back driving he can. Denny opted not to as he feels he is not strong enough yet. He said he cannot move fast enough yet and does not want to get into an accident nor cause one. Good decision. Besides, I do not mind taking him around

Friday (6-29) he saw his cardiologist. The minute he walked into the room he said "Denny you look great" and that put a nice smile on hubby's face. He also said that his incisions look good and is healing great. He checked his lungs and said they are doing real good. Dr asked him about the breathing machine. The breathing machine goes up to 2500 and Denny got it up to 2250 and the dr was very pleased with that.

Took his b/p 112/69 and heart 97 - both was good. Dr was very pleased with his weight loss ( so far he has lost 23 lbs and wants to lose more)

I asked him about the carbs and he said to keep it at 100 carbs and the calories to be around 1800-2000 since he is still healing.

Dr told him that he could go back to some of his activities; like walking. He will start walking Monday and will go with one of his buddies. If he did not have anyone, then I would go with him as I do not feel he should be by himself right now. The cardiologist told him no driving for about another three weeks.

He does not have to see the heart specialist anymore, but has another appt. with his cardiologist in 6 weeks and the week before that he is scheduled for b/w.

I certainly can see an improvement since this past weekend. They had them on pain killers (oxycodone) and when he first came home which was the 11th of June he was taking four a day (two in the am and two before going to bed). By the middle of the week he was like a zombie and I was really worried about him. I got so upset that I went into the spare bedroom and just cried as I felt I could not help him. I called his surgeon in Phoenix this past Thursday and talked to his assistant and he said only if he is having pain; otherwise do not take them. He has not taken any since Sunday night and what a difference in a good way.

I will keep you updated on anything further.

Thank you everyone for your prayers.

Hope everything works out for you, sounds like things are getting better though :)

Those painkillers can be a real double edged sword. I know all about being a zombie.. It's so easy to do.

Zach thank you for the kind of words. They are really appreciated. I certainly agree about the painkillers.

I cannot believe this but it is six (6) months since Denny's open heart surgery. He saw his cardiologist Tuesday 12-4 and he said that he is doing good. His b/p was 116/60 and that his lungs were doing great.

He still wants him to lose a few more lbs other than that he said to keep up the good work. He still wants him on 100 carbs a day. He does not have to see him for another 6 months.

He is back walking five (5) days a week and he says that he feels really good.

Thanks for all the previous prayers. Prayers definitely work.

You are a super group. Love you all.

Charlene,

I am thrilled about Denny's report! I know one reason he is doing so great is that he has a SUPER nurse! You are such a good, CUTE, couple! I'm so glad the surgery is over, that it's six months later, and that he is doing so wonderfully!

Love

Feeling good is priceless, isn't it! Of course he is married to an angel.
