DISABILITY

Post by charlotte369 »

I have had restless legs now for over 2 years & find that in the last year I am no longer to sit for long periods or stand for long periods, my meds sometimes make me sleepy in the middle of the day (can't sleep legs jump to much) so up and at them I am. Has anyone ever applied for disability with his
this illness? I told my doctor I did not feel like I could work if I had a job and
he said certainly not, he is a movement specialist. Just wondering what others think about this. :(

Hi GF.
I am on SSD but it takes a couple of years to get it.
As long as you have a good med. profile of all you have done to keep going, all the dr's you've seen, etc, that will help.
Talk to your PC and your specialists. Also, get a sleep test to show the PLMD and how it interupts your sleep, your REM, etc.
It's a battle, but you'll win. Call a very good ATTNY. now to get the ball rolling.
I know Bender and Bender advertise all the time and they have attny. all over that will help you.
It is a long, frustrating, aggrivating, process, but its cause the gov, doesn't want to give it if they can keep it.
Start on it now.
Love ya GF

How many others out there have managed to get Disability? How many of you would try for it if you thought you could get it? I think I would if I could but don't think it will happen. I also don't think we could survive with two of us on disability and I would bet that would be another strike against me. I took off sick yesterday, told everyone it was a sinus infection (I do have one) and spent the day sleeping. Don't feel much better today so what do I do? Down to 5 sick days for the rest of the year. It's a hole I can't climb out of. I know one thing, from now on if I don't feel good because of lack of sleep, that's what I'm going to tell everyone. Problem is, my legs aren't bothering me that much. I don't really know what the problem is.
You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself! (Glinda of Oz)

Hi Ruby I am so sorry that you are not feeling up to par. I hope that you are able to get the sleep the you dearly need.

My legs really are not doing too bad either My problem is that I am not sleeping very well and am sure that is what is happening to you too Ruby. Being sleep deprived is miserable and until someone walks in our shoes they have no idea what we are going through.

Take care of yourself girlfriend and have a good and restful weekend.

Love ya
