Terminology

If you are new to discussion boards, this may seem very hard to figure out! We hope that you can follow this info until you get the hang of it.
First, here is some terminology that may help you out.
Post: one entry written by one person. It may be short or long, ask a question, ask for help, state something, or respond to someone else's post.
Thread: a collection of posts, usually written by multiple people. A thread starts with the first person's post and is named by the first person to post. All other posts follow it and may or may not be directly about it. Normal etiquette is that the posts within the thread should be about the original post. Posting other information in it is sometimes called "hijacking" the thread.
Link/hypertext: a link is usually shown in a medium blue font. It indicates that if you click on the words, you will be taken somewhere else. This somewhere could be another thread within this site or to somewhere on a completely different website. The link usually shows up in another browsing window on your computer.
Locked thread: a thread can be locked by a moderator. This is usually done when the thread is for informational purposes and isn't something to be posted within. It can also be locked if one or more people write inflammatory comments.
The board has a main section, the resources section, and a section for doctors and practitioners. Almost all of the reading and posting you will do is in the Main Discussion Board section.
In this section, there are several topics, for example, General Topics, Special Populations, etc. A short description is listed so you know the type of information you are likely to find in that section.
