Welcome to Taco Bill

Post by Rustsmith »

Tuesday, July 23

Welcome to

Taco Bill, who has a case of refractory RLS. It has unequivocally destroyed his life. His biggest struggle is obtaining the medication he needs to live. Without medication he cannot sleep, even a nap. He can go days without sleep. The problem is that the only medication that helps is an opiate.

Please post a note giving us a bit better idea of the challenges you face getting an opioid med. Many of us have faced the same challenge and we have a few suggestions that may help. The RLS Foundation is also working on federal regulators to try to get them to ease up on doctors and pharmacies when it comes to providing this type of medication that is so critical to so many of us.

Welcome to Dial911

Post by Rustsmith »

Tuesday, July 30

Welcome to

Dial911, who hasn't been diagnosed yet, but she is being driven nuts by these symptoms that seem to match with RLS, and she can't get an appointment with a neurologist for another couple of months. Her internist and physical therapist have tried some things, but nothing works, so she is hoping to get some ideas here.

Please post a note telling us about your symptoms so that we can point you to some things to help educate yourself. As for a "treatment" that does not involve meds, try soaking your legs in very hot water (as hot as you can stand) or very cold water. This often helps calm the sensations of RLS for long enough to be able to fall asleep.

Welcome to Lisa*

Post by Rustsmith »

Wednesday, July 31

Welcome to

Lisa*, whose RLS is so awful she cannot fall asleep. She went to bed at 10:30pm and was still suffering at 2:15. This is happening every night. She is nearly falling asleep driving because RLS is preventing her from getting enough sleep. She is becoming very depressed because of it.

Lisa, we can all relate. Please post a note telling us what you are doing to treat your RLS so that we will know what we can suggest so that you can get some sleep.
