MAY 2020 - New Members
Welcome to Gene, who has had RLS on and off for many years and now is affected several times a night and is looking for some miracle relief.
Gene, so sorry things are getting bad enough that you had to look for help. Feel free to start a Topic to tell us your situation, or reply to posts in existing topics. Have you been taking any medications for your WED/RLS? Are there any foods, drinks, or activities that make it better or worse?

Beth - Wishing you a restful sleep tonight

Welcome to dsider
Saturday, May 2
Welcome to
dsider, who iis a 40 year sufferer at age 62. Began Nupro ~8 years ago. Underlying insomnia and tolerance have necessitated current drug cocktail: including tramadol. dsider is med-dependent and has unanswered questions about management potential over remaining lifespan. And what is the RLS Foundation's experience with Belbuca? disder can hopefully 1) get it from insurer 2) get help with it.
We do not represent the RLS Foundation so we cannot comment on their experience with Belbuca. However, we have a couple of our members who have been using it for many years. If you will post a note with any other questions that you have, we would be happy to provide our comments.

Welcome to tombehler
Sunday, May 3
Welcome to
tombehler, who has been suffering with RLS for almost 20 years. The condition has worsened and become severe, despite trying numerous drug and homeopathic treatments. The condition itself, and the various meds used to combat it have significantly affected his overall quality of life, and are making him unable to perform more and more basic life activities. The doctors he has been working with say they understand the condition, but have run out of suggested things to try.
Please post a note telling us about the things that you have tried. The experience of our members has been that there is always something else to try.

Welcome to JumpingBean
Monday, May 4
Welcome to
JumpingBean, who developed severe RLS about 5 years ago and began a daily iron treatment that seemed to quiet symptoms dramatically. After taking a very low dose of an SSRI 3 years ago, JumpingBean developed muscle spasms that seem to have a lot in common with RLS in that their onset is bedtime and they prevent sleep and are are extremely intolerable symptoms...so JumpingBean can't discount the similarities to RLS. So JumpingBean came here in order to receive the support and education that is lacking in the greater community and is also lacking in the medical community overall.
In order to have a diagnosis of RLS, you also need to satisfy the requirement that the sensations abate if you get up and move around. So, please post a note telling us if you have been able to find a doctor who understands and/or if you are taking anything to help other than the iron supplements.

Welcome to bklyn62
Friday, May 8
Welcome to
bklyn62, whose RLS has affected life for decades. She is finally seeing a neurologist and sleep doctor to deal with it -- she just couldn't deal with the impact on daily life from lack of sleep, or the ability to simply sit and relax at night with a book or to watch t.v. (the episodes were starting earlier in the evening). The condition is torture. Her said sleeping with her is like sleeping on top of a washing machine on the spin cycle.
Please post a note telling us about your new treatment and asking any questions that you have. We would love to be able to help you out.
