JULY 2021 - New Members

Post by Rustsmith »

Thursday, July 1

Welcome to

DEFNJEB, who is a 64 year old woman who has had RLS all of her life. Just recently it has become worse and not manageable with magnesium and diet. She is trying to figure out next steps.

Take a look at this publication that just came out today. It should have everything that you need to know and more. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to Salmati

Post by Rustsmith »

Saturday, July 3

Welcome to

Salamati, who is new, scared, and starts panicking about 4pm about how the night is going to be. Salamati is also worried about the future.

There is no need to worry about the future. Many of us have had RLS for most of our lives and have learned to live around the symptoms. The trick is simply to have an understanding, knowledgeable and compassionate doctor. If there are any questions that you have, just post a note and ask away.

Welcome to Hockeymom325

Post by Rustsmith »

Sunday, July 4

Welcome to

Hockeymom325, who has had RLS since adolescence and is currently experiencing augmentation with her medication. It is very difficult to work without rest. Need help to manage this.

Unfortunately with augmentation, your RLS will get worse before it gets better unless you can convince your doctor to prescribe you an opioid to cover the withdrawal. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Most of us have been where you are today and will be happy to provide whatever help we can.

Welcome to rht

Post by Polar Bear »

Monday 5th July 2021

Welcome today to

rht - who believes he/she has a form of RLS -- everywhere in the body -- ever since can be remembered as a small child, and while it has been annoying it seems like it has kept him/her more physically active and thus in better physical condition than might have been otherwise. rht compares the sensation to the urge to stretch when you get up from sleep, except it is more noticeable and is constant all day. My body simply wants to move.

A big question is .... does moving help your symptoms. There is a lot of good information on the Just Joined Forum. If you have anything to ask please do make a post and we will do all we can to help. Are you on any medication, some history of your symptoms and medications will be very useful.

Welcome to jumping

Welcome to

jumping, who has suffered with RLS since she was pregnant with her last child 36 years ago. She has tried to manage it and have used some meds, but she needs to know she is not alone. It is only getting worse.

You are absolutely not alone. Everyone here can sympathize with your situation (except for the pregnancy part  ). If you need advice for how to modify your meds, we can certainly offer you suggestions to share with your doctor.

Welcome to pdm

Post by Rustsmith »

Tuesday, July 6

Welcome to

pdm, whose RLS impairs his ability to sleep, which makes him very cranky. He is also unable to relax in the evening.

Sleep issues are commonly the main initial complaint for those of us with RLS. If you would like some suggestions on how to improve your sleep and to be less cranky, just post a note to give us an idea of what you have been doing to treat the symptoms.

Welcome to pdurbin2

Post by Rustsmith »

Tuesday, July 6

Welcome to

pdurbin2, who has been dealing with RLS since age 9 yrs. pdurbin managed with a combination of gabapentin and pramipexole until recent complete knee replacement. Since then pdurbin has had issues most of every day. pdurbin is 84 yrs old and has much swelling and pain from the surgery and would therefore appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience.

Hopefully someone who has been through knee surgery sees this. You can also post a note asking for comments. One question that you could help us out by answering is if you still have a prescription for an opioid since you still have pain and swelling. Opioids can be very helpful when it comes to treating RLS.
