Welcome to fortiz74669

Post by Rustsmith »

Friday, December 10

Welcome to

fortiz74669, whose RLS does not allow fortiz to rest at night so during the day fortiz can fall asleep when sitting, eating, watching TV . At times even when walking or standing. fortiz fell several times, broke a rib and had a head injury. Pramipexole and Gabapentin helped some for several years but recently fortiz developed Augmentation. Cutting it down gradually and stopping it was terrible with no sleep at all. fortiz had to retire a few years ago because of this. fortiz takes Iron 325 mg at night, so the Ferritin and Iron levels are normal. Any suggestions?

Many of us have been through augmentation and have had to move on to using low dose opiods. It might also be possible to just use gabapentin (you don't augment on gabapentin), but that only works for about 65% of us. Lyrica or Horizant might also work, but those are just different versions of gabapentin. If you have questions or would like to discuss your options, feel free to post a note and we will see what we can do for you.

She believes that she has had some success based on a study she came across and would like to share the information, as well as gain insight from other members.

We would love to hear about that study and what you have done to improve control of your symptoms. Just post a note to start the discussion.

Welcome to Johnsonlynne

Welcome to

Johnsonlynne, who has mild RLS and would like to find non drug ways of dealing with it. Her mother had it and she is wondering if it is in our genes.

Your RLS could definitely be in your genes. Over 20 different genes have been identified as being associated with RLS. As for non-drug ways to manage your RLS, take a look through our Physical Treatments and Non-Prescription Meds forums to get an idea of what will and will not work. And then, if you have any questions, feel free to post a note with them. We love to share.
