Hi all,

I managed seven straight hours last night! Would've been longer but the ex rang me for a phone number...she could've rung anyone as it was for a cab :x ! I'm glad i'm not on the zopiclone anymore...i don't think i would've taken it so well

I haven't experienced any side effects to speak of apart from a little stomach cramp from the tamazipan so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way 8) . Time will tell when i start upping the neurontin!

Learning curve

Post by claradragon »

jumpyowl wrote:I bet the doc was surpised how knowledgable you have become :)

Quite right jumpyowl he was impressed!
I have to give the credit to you,Nadia and everyone else here on the board for the invaluable information and support (believe me, in my heart you were all at the docs with me) that made it possible for me to get the help i needed.

I've been on one amazing learning curve since i discovered this board and it's not stopping there!!!I plan to start studying from home and have sent away for infomation on different courses available here. Ideally i'd like to aim towards medical/research (i was classed as a genius as a child). At the moment it's still a dream but who knows what the future holds

I'm so proud of you!

Clara, it's Jan

I'm so proud of you, Clara! Rememer when you were afraid of the internet and the computer? Well, maybe "afraid" is the wrong word, but you know what I mean. I KNEW how intelligent you are!! Some day, who knows, YOU may be a specialist in RLS!!! Anyway, good for you!!! At the very least, you've armed yourself, and that's the most important thing RIGHT NOW!!! We could ALL learn something from you!! You definitely "took the bull by the horns" and did something about your problem, instead of just whining about it! I'm proud to know you!

Jan

P.S. Hope the sleep keeps on comming!!!

The best news I heard today!

Post by jumpyowl »

You are indeed a "rara avis" Claradragon. (it is rare bird but sounds better in latin :D ) Sic itur ad astra! (That is how to get to the stars). I must be in a latin mood early this morning or is it the drugs???

I must have scared my doctor on Wednesday. I should have spoon fed him. I did not realize that his male nurse Roger (whom I have candestinely been teaching the past few months - I meet him every month as he is seeing my daughter that often) actually knows much more than the doctor does. Roger was also sent to a course on RLS, so he is getting to be really good.

I must be getting sleepy, have been up since 3:30 am. And I have to do he taxes today (the extension ends on august 15).

Sorry for venting gals. Jan, both you and Clara have been posting so well these weeks. RLS must be nicer to you. I am glad! :)

Jumpy, this is Jan

Thanks for the compliment, Jumpy, but RLS hasn't been nicer to me. In fact, it's been raging!! I think what you are seeing is a reaction to an outpouring of support I've received from many people I really hadn't given myself a chance to get to know yet. I've learned I had to take a leap of faith and, as I said in one of my posts, take off my mask, and learn to let the REAL me out. I just have been more brave because I've learned that people on the forum are great (this is for all you newbies, too). The most important thing to remember is this forum is here to help people!! And, by helping others, we ultimately help ourselves!!

Woo-hoo!!! **Doin' her happy dance for Clare** :-)

The number for a cab, eh? Sounds to me like the little miss might be looking for a way back in? Or is she just trying to bug the hell outta ya?

I haven't noticed any cramping from the Restoril but I have been experiencing this very dry cough. It's a very strange sort of cough and from what I've read is a side effect. Weird.

So yeah, huge props to you for hanging in there and pushing through. You're doing a great job. Knowledge does so much more than just make you more knowledgable, doesn't it? :-) Drive on, sister!

I had a smokers cough to start with, which is now much improved as I don't smoke half of what i was, so i wouldn't notice a cough as a side effect. Have you talked to your doc about it?

I smoke too. No, this is much different than a smoker's cough. Hard to describe. Just weird. I'm not worried about. It's just a bit bothersome. I won't tell the doc because I don't want to risk her taking me off of the Restoril. The success I'm having with it, far outweighs the slightly annoying cough.

Good for you for cutting down. My goal is to quit after I lose my first 25 pounds. It's just too hard to diet AND quit smoking at the same time.

That is just the best confidence boost :D(even if it is the drugs! )
Jumpy i'm not surprised you scare the doc..your intellect probably terrifies him! :P

Sole...knowledge is power! And i hope i never forget how i felt when i first arrived here. Does that make sense?
As for the rls being nicer...i think because i don't feel quite so hopeless and useless it has given me a much more positive attitude toward the rls, it's there, it hurts but it's not just "all in my head" anymore. And watching you Jan, take off your mask, has been amazing.

I just want to say thankyou  to everybody!

Lala land!

Post by claradragon »

Well my sleeping is down to 5 1/2 hours and less again. I seem to spend my time in lala land with my rls fighting to get out and pain raging down my left hand side...This is not fun!!! It may well be that my body is taking it's time adjusting to the medications as lala land seems to be the only side effect i have, only time will tell. :?

I have stayed away from the painkillers till now (i'll be taking them when i finish writing this post) just to see what effects the neurontin has on me. At the moment my rls is still there but subdued so i'm assuming that the neurontin is working to a degree, it hasn't helped with the aching rage i have going on in my left hand side but has helped with the numbness, pins and needles etc to the point where my cat can sit on my lap (much to our mutual joy :D !!!). As i'm still not on the full dosage yet i think i will hang back on making a judgement.

Huge apologies to those of you i have not replied to, i have been a little out of the loop. Hopefully this will change soon!

love n hugs

Clara,

How are you? I'm sorry I didn't reply to you sooner. I too, have been out of the loop. That's what happens when real life hits, huh? So did you up your Neurontin? Is it helping? You know, here's an idea that might help. Even though my Dr. took me off of the Klonopin, I still have a good supply left. So every once in a while, I take .5mgs of Klonopin, instead of the Restoril. It seems to help reset my system to receive the Restoril better. Perhaps you can try something similar.

How's the stress level?

Thinking of you often. :-)
