It's a rocking motion. I feel to need to "have to" due to discomfort or being restless.
Anybody out there rocking back and forth, not just the legs?
I move my etire body, not just legs to sleep.
ROCKING BODY
I have been rocking back and forth in bed until about when I was 22 years. I didn't have RLS at the time, it is called rhythmic movement disorder. It disn't harm me and was comforting.
I have noticed in the different forums that there are more people that had the movement disorder when young and develop restless legs later.
Strange.

Hi Hank
I was intrigued by your post and did a search on the web ... a lot of hits, but not much useful information, apart from the one link below:

I wish I could help you out more, but you've got me stumped! If I do come across anything though, I'll be sure to let you know!
Take care of you!

My philosophy is simply this: Life is too short to be diplomatic. Your friends should not care what you do, or say; and for those who are not your friends ... their loss!!!

Nadia, how clever you are! The link said just what I mentioned (at the end); that RMD can lead to restless legs!
Thanks, Corrie
Thanks, Corrie
Having read through the article I linked to in my previous post I did subsequent searches on "Stereotypic Movement Disorder" and "Jactatio Capitis Nocturna". Again, a lot of hits, but not much useful information, and the latter search resulted in a lot of sites in foreign languages.
The only sites I did find worth checking out are below. Again, they may, or may not help you.
http://health.allrefer.com/health/stere ... -info.html
http://www.emedicine.com/ped/topic909.htm
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency ... 001548.htm
Also, there is an online Yahoo Support Group called "Rocking · A group for those of us who suffer from Jactatio Capitis Nocturna - head-banging - a sleep disorder"
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Rocking/
Take care!
