New member-hello
New member-hello
Hi everyone I'm a new member to the site. I was diagnose a yr and half ago with WED/RLS. I've been trying some natural remedies that dulls the pain. And haven't slept a whole nite in over 10yrs. Legs feel that they have a life of their own, the need to move, achy, throbbing, cramping. I look forward to learning more and contributing when I can. Thanks for the invite to join. Cheers

It's definitely not fun having this, is it? Many of us have tried what seems like hundreds of things!

Re: New member-hello
Welcome, there is a lot of information here on the Discussion Board and many options for treatment.
Two things I'd advise:
1.
This book is wonderful, it is easy to read and can be used for discussion purposes with your doctor.
Clinical Management of Restless Legs Syndrome by Lee, Buchfuhrer, Allen and Hening. Make sure to get the second edition. These Authors are at the top of the league when it comes to the treatment of WED/RLS. It can be found on Amazon. Knowledge is empowerment.
2.
Also, have you had your ferritin serum level checked, this is pretty important. It is a blood test that is not normally done with routine blood works and you need to ask for it. This tells the level of iron stored in your brain – and that is what is important to us sufferers of WED/RLS. We need a level of around 100, When getting the results of this test please ask your doctor for the actual level = do not accept ‘normal’ as an answer. Doctors and Labs may consider 20 to be normal… but it isn’t normal for us.

Great post, Polar Bear. I couldn't live without that book. Well, I would, but not very well!

Yes, Views. I often feel that I am very repetitive in some of my posts because this book and the ferritin test are something I am very passionate about.
