Welbutrin

Post by shawnaleedavis »

I have had RLS for over twenty years, I just detoxed myself off of requip (it was not working and I had sever agumentation) after taking it for 8 years. I started taking Welbutrin for depression. Day three after taking the welbutrin my RLS is gone. I mean gone. Has anyone else tried welbutrin? I'm taking 300 mg daily. I have no side effects but the alleviation of RLS!!

It is considered a WED/RLS friendly drug that sometimes actually helps.

Glad to here it helped you!

I tried it - didn't help me, nor did it help my depressive symptoms at the time. Turned out that mine was likely related to a severe vitamin D deficiency, though, so that makes sense it wouldn't make me feel better. It did not worsen my WED/RLS - which was good - but it did not help, either.

Buproprion, the generic name of Wellbutrin - is thought to affect the dopamine system, which is what ropinerole and pramipexole do, too. The drugs for depression that affect other systems, however, may worsen WED/RLS, so starting with buproprion is considered a wise choice.

Here in UK they will not prescribe Wellbrutin as an anti depressant, however they will prescribe it as an aid to smoking cessation.
