welcome to

crdean, who has had severe RLS for the past 14 years. The RLS has strongly effected sleep, daily function, and overall quality of life.

The same is true or many of us, so you are not alone. Take a look around for ideas to improve your situation. If you don't find what you want, please post a note so that we can make some suggestions.

More Monday, June 22

Please welcome

jumpingoutofmyskin, who is in her twenties. She has an incredible amount of tension in my lower legs/feet and an insatiable urge to flex these muscles. She also suffers from restless hands. These symptoms have greatly affected her quality of life.

It sounds like you have not been officially diagnosed. Take a look through "A Good Place to Start" in this forum to get some ideas of whether you think you have RLS/WED. If you need more advice, please post a note to introduce yourself and ask whatever comes to mind.

and to

Winnebego149, who suffers from RLS and it is getting worse. Winnebego is hoping to find some resources and answers.

Start with "A good place to start" at the top of this forum to get an idea of the resources available for answers. You might also want to take a look at the Published Research topic in General Topics if that is the level of information that you are interested in. For answers, please feel free to post a note telling us about yourself and asking whatever questions that you wish.

Welcome to

click4it, who has had RLS for many years, but was never been really severe until now.

Yes, unfortunately RLS/WED can have a tendency to get more severe with age. Please take a look around and post a note telling us about yourself so that we can offer some specific suggestions.

and

tor378, who has had RLS/WED for a long time, is always tired and irritable, and who wants a nonprescription solution if possible and to know what causes it.

There is a lot of info here - we don't know the exact cause, but we know some of what is involved. There aren't many non-drug solutions (prescription or otherwise) that work for everyone, but some things can help. Read around in the different forums to find more info.

Sunday 27th of June - welcome to cordellrod who has had RLS/WED for many years, had tried almost all the drug options and it had gotten so bad. 3 yrs ago started on methadone and it's been amazing - 100% relief, no increase in dose, no symptoms as long as the drug is taken on time. Has had issues with constipation, and low testosterone, which an injection resolved.

I'm a fellow methadone user :-). I've had to increase dosage, but the majority of people do not have to (which is great). So happy you found something to help you and a doctor willing to prescribe it for you.

Welcome today to

jaybird8, who has been suffering with RLS for 8 years and now is suffering from Mirapex augmentation and want to get rid of that dreaded drug.

You are not alone with your issues about Mirapex. Take a look through both the Augmentation forum as well as the prescription drug forum to get an idea of what you are facing to get off of Mirapex. You will find that the most important thing is to have a doctor who understands and is willing to prescribe an opiate to get you through the transition.
