Welcome New Members - October 2015
Our first new member this month, we welcome bevans74, who sometimes finds it hard to sleep and is looking for support and advice.\
There are many things you can do. Take the link in my signature. It's a good starting point. Read up, ask questions, and remember that there is always someone here who understands and can commiserate.

Welcome today to
fallingoffthebed, whose husband has had RLS since they married 38 years ago, probably longer. He takes several medications with variable success. She is interested in learning more about medications as iron supplementation, with the hope that he can get a normal night's sleep someday.
and
lisaintosa, who has had RLS since age 12 yrs and is now almost 51. At first it wasn't that bad and no one knew what it was, now it is with her all the time. She is on a 3mg of Ropinirole (1 in am, 2 before bed) it seems to help but takes about an hour to kick in. This condition drives me nuts!
and to
dkrestless1, for whom RLS has taken away the delightful anticipation of bedtime. It has made dk into a night-time clock-watcher, terrified to be far from ropinerole.
Take a look around, starting with "A Great Place to Start" at the top of this forum. If you don't find the answers you are looking for, please start a new topic asking whatever you need.

Welcome today to
Nanc, who first identified herself as having RLS in her 30's and is now 60. She has switched medications, yet so much is still 'trial and error' with sleepless nights.
Take a look around to see what types of information are available and if you have any questions, please feel free to start a new posting.
and to
LinW, who rarely sleeps at night because of rls and severe insomnia so she would to have someone to "talk" to in the middle of the night. She is allergic to all medicines used to treat rls except mirapex which she had to quit taking after 15 years because of side effects. I desperately need some support.
and
sdcowgirl, who feels that RLS/WED has taken over - and she wants her life back!
LinW, take a look around to see if there are some non-pharmaceutical answers that might help. All of you, please feel free to post any questions or comments; it's often helpful to start a new topic and introduce yourself and explain what you're doing and how it's working. LinW, you will find that the most active period is during the middle of the night.

Welcome today to
Mistersf, whose husband has RLS. The symptoms are more severe than ever. He's visiting his new doctors at Kaiser this week. He says his symptoms at night are worse when he is near her.
Please look around for information, starting with "A Good Place to Start" at the top of this forum. And please feel free to post a note describing your situation, medications, etc so that others in similar situations can comment.
and
JeJee67, who dreads the nights due to awakening in the wee hours with restless legs. JeeJee aches all over, feels lethargic, can't think clearly, and has tried several different Rx's. Klonopin worked for about 2 months, but evidently led to tolerance.
Take a look through our discussions to see if there is anything that might help. And fee free to post a note asking any questions that you might have.

On Wednesday, we welcome:
faith0819 - who only sleeps for about 2 hours then wake up with symptoms. Other family members have RLS, too.
gakats - whose husband has suffered with this for decades and is worsening with age. Traditional treatments aren't working.
Sounds like you are both in the right place. Do let us know what you've tried and how it worked, if you want to share (or vent). Otherwise, hang out and read the posts - they are usually very helpful.

Welcome today to
DianeB12, who is suffering from RLS, taking 3 different meds, and has gained 50 pounds. RLS is ruining her quality of life.
Take a look through the information in the Prescription Drug forum. Although weight gain is a side effect for several RLS medications, there are alternatives that you should discuss with you physician that may help you to avoid that side effect.
and to
Clarence Johnson, who has had PLMD for 20 years and whose sleep is terrible. He says thank God for methadone because he has been on the same low dose for 7 years and if it weren't for this drug he doesn't think he could handle living.
Take a look around and see if there is any information that would be of benefit to you. We also look forward to any comments our suggestions that you would like to make.

Welcome today to
Rubee, whose RLS is affecting sleep. She is on medication but it is getting less effective. She is looking for tips and possible names of doctors since her doctor seems to be unsuccessful in dealing with her problem.
Take a look around, starting with "A Great Place to Start" at the top of this forum. And let us know where you are located so that we can make a suggestion of where you might find a doctor who "gets it".

Welcome today to
Brian Briggs, who was given Lorazepam for sleep, which gave him hypnic jerks and rls. Had to take Mirtrazapine for 6 months which made rls worse.
Take a look around, starting with "A Great Place to Start" at the top of this forum. Getting off of benzo's is difficult, but usually does to cause RLS. So take a look at the questionnaire in that discussion to get an idea of whether your issue is RLS or possibly something else. If it really is RLS, please post a note to let us know what you are doing to treat it and the severity so that we might be able to provide some suggestions.

Welcome today to
kellyjrs, who has had RLS for over 40 years. Initially, it was only trouble sitting through concerts, plays and long meetings. For the last 20 years, it has been daily. For the last 15 years, treatment has been Pramipexole 3 times daily, beginning at noon. Symptoms now are body wide and include neurological symptoms as if there is a consciousness "shift" that is very uncomfortable.
Sounds like you may be augmenting once again. Look through the Augmentation topic for info you may want to discuss with your doctor, and feel free to post a note with any questions or comments that you may have.
