I am a new member. Reading about Neupro.
I have gone back and forth with Mirapex and Neupro.
Back on Neupro now.
Reading about it, I see reference to DA. WHat is DA?
Mirapex and Neupro both work for me, it's just deciding which of the side affects is easier to deal with.
DA

Re: DA
DA stands for dopamine agonist. Neupro (rotigatine), Mirapex (pramipexole) and Requip (ropinirole) are all dopamine agonists.

Re: DA
Per this class of drugs, there are things we've learned that are very important.
1. Use the lowest possible dose. For pramipexole, it's now suggested by some specialists not to use a dose of more than .25 mg; for rotigotine, it's 3 mg.
2. Make sure your serum ferritin is tested and is at least 75, if not 100 before continuing to use this class of drugs.
3. Consider using an alpha 2 delta drug instead - such as gabapentin or gabapentin encarbil - for your first RLS/WED drug.
This is all because all of the dopamine agonists can cause a condition called augmentation, where the symptoms actually get worse.

Re: DA
DA is also used in medical literature to mean dopamine. But on this board we usually use it to mean dopamine agonist, which is a medication that acts like dopamine in the brain.
