February 2017 - New Members

Post by Rustsmith »

Wednesday, February 1

Welcome to

Andy1980, who has had RLS since 1980. It did not get bad until around when he made a career change in 1993. The condition has caused tremendous stress such that he often was forced to leave business meetings or at least stand and rock.

Take a look around to see if you can get some ideas and please post a note telling us about what you are doing to treat your RLS so that maybe we can offer some suggestions.

Welcome to GaryS

Post by Rustsmith »

Saturday, February 3

Welcome to

GaryS, who started having the RLS creepy crawly feelings a few years ago when trying to fall asleep. It's been mild compared to what he has read about here but he wants to keep up with what's going on with research and hear about what others are doing.

Please feel free to post a note telling us a bit more about yourself and asking any questions that you have. We try to post the latest about RLS research, but also often have some clues about what is currently in the works, so if you are looking for something specific, let us know.

Welcome to sandy8356

Post by Rustsmith »

Tuesday, February 7

Welcome to

sandy9356, who has had RLS since being a teenager and is now 65. Sandy's neurologist stated today that she would rate Sandy's symptoms in the top 1% of the most severe cases. Sandy has been on almost every medication with some success but eventually augmentation occurred, and so Sandy is investigating the Relaxis Pad.

If you use the search function in the upper right, you should find a few members who are trying the pad. If you post a note with your question you may get a few responses from them to any specific questions that you have.

Welcome to Mom

Welcome to

Mom, who has a loved one with severe RLS and who has not received much help from traditional medicine.

Many of us have had issues with doctors until we found ones who understood RLS and could provide the help we needed. Please take a look at our files to get an idea of what works and doesn't. And then please post a note telling us about the issues that your loved one has experienced so that we can offer some specific suggestions on how to proceed from here.

Welcome to Kathoderayblue

Post by badnights »

Welcome tonight to Kathoderayblue, who has had RLS/WED since childhood. Kathoderayblue, many of us have gone through a similar progression as you have, the symptoms getting worse over the years until eventually they awaken us at night and prevent a good night's sleep.

Most of us have found ways of dealing with it, which I hope you will learn about as you read posts, ask questions here, and tell us your story. We may use medications, or have adjusted our sleep schedules, or avoid certain foods or situations that seem to trigger the symptoms, or we take iron, or we use tricks to make our bodies forget the symptoms - hot baths, ice baths, deep squats, Chi machines, compression bandages. I for one am much happier with my life for having found this discussion board, and I have learned more about the disease directly or indirectly from this board than from anywhere else. I hope you, too, can find relief from your symptoms and can regain some of the quality of life that you've lost lately. Welcome.
Beth - Wishing you a restful sleep tonight
