Welcome to Marilyn64

Post by Polar Bear »

Monday 3 July

Welcome to:

Marilyn64 - whose restless legs are getting worse as she is getting older. She is on antidepressants and believes this may be contributing to them getting worse. She is going to the doctor at the end of the month to talk about what can be done regarding medication.

Perhaps you have already been reading through the information. Take a look at 'A Good Place to Start' on this Just Joined Forum, lots of good information there. Please feel free to start a post, ask questions and tell us a little about your management of your RLS, so that you are well informed when you visit your doctor at the end of the month.

Welcome to linli

Post by Polar Bear »

Tuesday 4 July

Welcome to:

linli - whose RLS started at retirement. linli had expected to spend retirement traveling, doing things not done during working years. All of that is impossible, for the most part, as sitting for extended periods is out of the question. linli feels RLS steals your life.

We can all relate to what you say and would like to help. When you are ready, tell us about how you are coping at present. It is interesting that you can pinpoint exactly that symptoms coincided with your retirement. Did you start to do anything differently like taking a particular medication?

Welcome to douggell

Post by Rustsmith »

Thursday, July 6

Welcome to

douggell, who has been handling RLS symptoms for the past five years and is a senior senior. The evening pain is debilitating and pronounced only while in bed and in a reclining position. douggell has sought the advice of physicians and others but no remediation.

Please post a note telling us what your physicians have tried and a bit more about your symptoms. It is a sad fact that many doctors do not know much about how to properly treat RLS. So, with a bit more info, we should be able to make some suggestions for you to discuss with your doctor.

Welcome to mhelen5978

Post by Rustsmith »

Thursday, July 6

Welcome to

mhelen5978, who is currently on .25 mg Mirapex but is augmenting. She would like to see what her RLS is like without meds.

Take a look through out forum on augmentation. If you do decide to get off of Mirapex, pay close attention to the discussions about either quitting cold turkey or through the use of an opioid to cover the period while you quit. Either way, you should discuss this with your doctor before you try it because it will not be easy.

After you have had a chance to look around, please post a note with any remaining questions that you have.

Welcome to Mkaspari

Post by Rustsmith »

Sunday, July 9

Welcome to

Mkaspari, who has been struggling with RLS for over 15 years and is looking for ideas on non pharmaceutical ways to treat it.

Take a look through our forums on Physical Treatments and Non-Prescription Meds, Supplements and Diets. But be aware that many of these are not effective for severe RLS or may only partially treat your symptoms. After looking around, please post a note telling us about what you are currently doing so that one of our members might be able to suggest something else.
