this coupled with bone broth is like taking an extra iron pill which is helpful for me because if I take too many iron pills it impacts my digestion which kicks in the RLS. I've also heard that magnesium chloride with purified water heated and DMSO might be able to help. Will be trying that this weekend.

Interesting. Last night I went out for dinner and had a big, rarer than I would have liked, Filet Mignon (it was delicious). I slept for four hours in a row which is twice as long as I normally do unless I've taken codieine. I might take an extra iron tablet tonight to see what happens.

What is the relation between digestion & RLS?

There is probably a closer relationship than we know for sure right now, in that the gut microbiota (the bugs that live in our guts) can have far-reaching effects thruout the body.

But aside from that, what peanut is talking about is the fact that iron pills cause gut pain for a lot of people. The relationship is between iron and WED/RLS. Most of us who have WED/RLS have low iron stores, especially in our brains, so many of us take oral iron pills. Others are able to get iron infusions (I wish I could!), which bypasses the gut problem.

They say digestion is the pathway to good health which makes sense since we get our nutrients there. I don't know the specifics of the science, but I do know that if I take too much oral iron that the RLS kicks in something fierce which I assume is related to digestion.

Has anyone tried the magnesium chloride and the DMSO? I can't seem to find any magnesium chloride

Beth,

Curious why you can't get an iron transfusion.

Magnesium chloride can be purchased at https://livingthegoodlifenaturally.com/online-store/

This version comes as a solution. A friend talked me into purchasing this. I have not tried it yet. It recommends using a glass or metal container if soaking your feet. There is a long video on their website you can watch to learn more about this. After I try it for a few weeks I will let people know if it helped.

Sorry, it recommends a glass or stainless steel container. I had to order a stainless steel bucket off of the internet because I didn't have anything that was big enough. I am not sure why plastic is not good enough. But I decided since I paid about $70 for this stuff I should follow their instructions correctly.

Beth,

Pawluk says I have to have ferritin under 40.

They have desiccated liver pills that are much more convenient than the powder. I will be getting surgery this Thursday and have to be off ALL iron for 1 week. The desiccated liver has been a god send for helping me out. With meds, I'm sleeping good thanks to the desiccated liver. Also was able to increase my ferritin level from 80s to 350. The only difference was taking the desiccated liver.
