Here you can share your experiences with substances that are ingested, inhaled, or otherwise consumed for the purpose of relieving RLS, other than prescription medications. For example, herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, diet, kratom, and marijuana (for now) should be discussed here. Tell others of successes, failures, side effects, and any known research on these substances. [Posts on these subjects created prior to 2009 are in the Physical Treatments forum.]

My experience is that few doctors know much about iron except that if you don't have enough, you get iron deficiency anemia. That's about it
I imagine I am preaching to the choir here - there are SO many things a doc needs to know and when a specialist, my gut tells me their knowledge is very deep and narrow. And, a GP's knowledge is mostly shallow but wide. Neither of these helps a doc know more than the passing general knowledge unless he/she has a patient with something and happens to learn it.
That is why the Dr Rye, Buchfuhrer, Ondo, etc are SO important to us. They DO know those things. When we cannot access one of them, we need to be the educators.

I thought we were supposed to take iron with vitamin C on an empty stomach. I researched that and it is understood to be no less 2 hours after a meal and no more than 1 hour before. I find oral iron helps but is no cure. My providers hematologist says no IV unless I am anemic.
My numbers are way up around 200. At 30 you need to get the level up.
