Acetylleucine

Here you can share your experiences with substances that are ingested, inhaled, or otherwise consumed for the purpose of relieving RLS, other than prescription medications. For example, herbal remedies, nutritional supplements, diet, kratom, and marijuana (for now) should be discussed here. Tell others of successes, failures, side effects, and any known research on these substances. [Posts on these subjects created prior to 2009 are in the Physical Treatments forum.]

Acetylleucine

Post by Rob4056 »

Just wondering if anyone is using or is aware of any studies regarding acetylleucine to treat RLS - here’s link to a recent limited study with unexpected beneficial findings for RLS:

When I saw that the link connects to a conference paper rather than a journal publication, I did a little bit of digging and found that acetylleucine is a developmental drug that is currently undergoing early stage clinical trials for neurological conditions such as Tay-Sachs and Vertigo. So it isn't all that surprising that the researchers who published the conference paper may have also stumbled upon a new treatment for RLS. It is far, far too early to know, but just maybe ...

I have a friend who is taking it for a non-RLS condition and saw the mention of RLS benefits. He gets it without a prescription online from France. Was wondering if anyone else with RLS has given it a try. Looks like we'll have to await some real studies targeted to RLS to see whether this is in fact an effective treatment for RLS.
