foods the inhibit iron absorption

Post by peanut1 »

A good article. I was completely unaware of eggs inhibiting iron absorption along with walnuts and milk (which I eat a lot of)

Thanks for this, Kathy. I guess that's why iron is best taken on an empty stomach - lots of things seem to interfere with its absorption. I wasn't aware of eggs doing it, either. Or if I ever was, I'd forgotten ~:

Thanks Beth,

I think I may try that--just taking iron by itself with OJ and nothing else. And waiting an hour at least before eating something else, particularly the foods listed.
