Clonazepam vs. natural remedies and children

RLS occurs more frequently in certain populations, including people with end-stage renal disease, women during pregnancy, and people with iron deficiency. Also, RLS/WED in the elderly and children brings other challenges. Sharing your experiences may be extraordinarily helpful to others.

Clonazepam vs. natural remedies and children

Post by becat »

*I copied this post from New to RLS section: Will leave in both for now.

My 5 year old son has had sleep issues for the past three years. After trying all the behavioral suggestions we finally had a sleep study which resulted in surgery for tonsils & adenoids. Almost one year later we are not much further ahead. Our Dr suggested that we start him on .5 mg of Clonazepam to control RLS. I am highly concerned about medicating him, but we cannot go on like this for much longer. It has started to affect him at school and they have suggested he repeat a year as he is not emotionally ready to move on. Does anyone else have a young child on this medicine and has anyone used any herbal/natural remedies?
Many thanks for your help.

There is another thread and this one has the name and email address of the parent of a child with RLS.....This woman and her daughter spoke at the national meeting. Her name is Karla.

I know you have some things to work out brfore making a choice for you kiddo. I wish only the best and hope your going to hear from some of the other parents. Like you, they are busy and pop in every so often, I hope it's sooner than later this time.
