sleep aids during the first trimester
sleep aids during the first trimester
I developed RLS with my second pregnancy in the 3rd trimester. After three appointments and tears of desperation my doctor finally believed me when I said I had to have some sleep. She prescribed ambien. It was wonderful! I have continued to have RLS for the last two years on and off. It usually lasts one or two nights and then will dissappear for up to a month. I have treated this with ambien. I am now pregnant again and realize ambien is a class b drug. I was told class b were only safe for the third trimester. Has anyone taken a sleep aid, Tylenol pm, unisom, ambien, anything, during the first trimester of pregnancy?

Be careful of the OTC ones, marandat. Many, if not most, have dipendydramine - it makes RLS worse. The best info we have on what you can take is in the "sticky" post in this section. So sorry you are going through this. It sure makes for a tough pregnancy, doesn't it?
