2 year old not sleeping through the night

Noah was just diagnosis with PLMD or RLS by the Mayo clinic. They have giving us Neurontin to help him sleep through the night. He moved 24 times an hour duing his sleep study. How long before we see some results. We still have to teach him how to put himself to sleep but has been impossible since birth due to not knowing what was medically wrong with him. Has anyone gone through this with a child?
He also has diagnosised GERG and his ferritin is only up to 25 now it started at a 5.
Please help us finally get some sleep.
