5 days on Mirapex, can I stop cold turkey?

I have given mirapex a second try after 20 + years but it still causes vomiting, even with Ondansetron. I have been on .125mg for 5 days.
Can I stop cold turkey? My neuro is out of town, no one on her staff answering. I am desperate to stop.

This is my own opinion - I think that if you've only been using the Mirapex for 5 days you could stop cold turkey. The alternative would be to taper, i.e. half your dosage for a week and then stop. Personally, I'd just stop.

Do you have any other medication to use until you get to speak with your Neuro?

Lyrica which I recently stopped after 6 months because it didn't work and Gabapentin which I was on for years which stopped working. I also have ambien to help with sleep which I started a month ago. I see the neuro in 2 weeks.

The only med I haven't tried is methadone which is being considered by neuro. I've tried all other meds including some not approved for rls but nothing is working.

I'm not a medical professional. If it were me in your shoes, I would just stop. I wouldn't keep taking something that was making me sick.

To be safe, ask your pharmacist. As others have noted, I would feel completely safe doing it - I just did, actually. Was taking for about 15 days when I experienced augmentation. Stopped it cold just this Sunday - also was taking .125 mg.

I am not a medical professional, just a patient who has used this med. I tend to err on the side of caution after a bad experience with ongoing neurological effects after stopping Mirapex cold turkey. BUT - it was after being at a high dose for a lot of years. My advice is nearly always to wean off this med and then stop after a low dose. But to be honest, even I wouldn't be too concerned about stopping after 5 days. Just my 2 cents.
