Hi folks,
I'm in my early forties and I've had RLS for just under 20 years. I have gone through most of the dopamine agonists and have been stable on 15 mg of methadone for over 10 years. I'm starting to worry that the methadone is having cognitive effects. I'm wondering about switching to Neupro but I'm concerned about getting off methadone and that Neupro will just work like all of the other dopaminergic medications - augmentation and then back on the methadone. Has anyone been through this specific medication change and experiences with Neupro after methadone?
Thanks.
E.D.

Re: Long term opioid, considering neupro
Hi E.D. Not exactly (though I have actually done it, it didn't work for me at the time), but I have done something similar.
Too tired to give the back story, but iron infusions allowed me to bypass augmentation and take a DA for 6 months at a time (I originally augmented in about a week - ferritin was 16). I have had 3 of 4 infusions. This lets me reduce my methadone by 50% and use the DA to cover the remainder. I switch my doses a bit each night (would be harder with the Neupro).
