Requip Again???

Post by Stainless »

The only thing that ever flat out worked for me was Requip (Ropinirole). But then it didn't, doctor started increasing dosage and we all know how that worked out. I have not taken it in more than six years. I'm thinking of taking a low dose, maybe 0.5 mg just for a couple of weeks when I have important trips and then STOP. I never had any trouble with withdrawal (rebound) from Requip.

I'm a life long sufferer and on Clonazepam and Lyrica for painful nighttime RLS. At home I my hot tub, king size bed and big house to wonder about. I don't have these on cruises or family's homes coming up.

Anybody try anything like this? What do you think.

I would try it. I've been able to use pramiepexole (the thing that worked EXCELLENT for me- until I augmented) again after taking a few years off.

You mention maybe taking a low dose of 0.5mg Ropinerole when you have trips, and then stopping.
Just want to say that although Ropinerole is approved at a max daily dose of 4mg, most of the esteemed rls experts would advise that in order to avoid augmentation the max daily dose should be 1mg. (I know you said that you'd use it for only a short time and therefore augmentation may not be an issue).
If we consider that 1mg would be the max then I wonder would it be worth while trying 0.25mg first and see if this is of benefit.

Thank you for the replies. I see my neurologist in December and I'm sure he will go along.

Both him and a second opinion neurologist said find a university that specialises in RLS. I plan to do a road trip to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore but I keep putting it off until I'm 65 in a few months. I've just been down this road and run into dead ends with experts. Hope it will be different this time.
