Prednisone and RLS

Post by kathyjunk »

Hi All,
A few months ago I started having severe contact dermatitis. I have done all kinds of patch tests and can't find the culprit. The dermatologist wants me to get on prednisone for 2-4 weeks. I am really terrified to do it because a few months ago I was taking Budesonide for my lymphocytic colitis and my legs were terrible. I was told it was the steroid in the med. HELP! Anyone been in this situation?

About 15 years ago I was on 60mg of Prednisolone for a year and didn't have any skin issue. On a quick check I don't see it listed as a side effect. We all react differently to medications but on that experience if I had severe dermatitis I'd try it at a low dose and keep a close eye on my rls symptoms.

I recently had to have a cortisone injection as part of a migraine cocktail to break an intractable migraine headache. I had insomnia issues that night, but no RLS movement problems. In that situation for me, the insomnia turned out to be a blessing because my dog got out at 1:30A and I was able to function all night while I was out searching for him (he came back on his own at 4:30A just was I was starting to fall asleep while waiting at the front door).
