Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?

I only ever sleep on my right side. A neck condition prevents otherwise. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 4 years ago.
As regards moisture, I have no idea. I don't use water with my cpap and my apneas are very low. At diagnosis they were 20 and using the cpap are around 1.

Hey all, thanks for taking the time to review my post. I am a 38m and have had RLS since my early 20s. I have been through the gamut of medications and the opiate class has been the most helpful, with methadone providing 90% symptom relief. While I’m thankful for this, two problems have emerged: extreme daytime fatigue and sleep apnea.

Same happened to me when I went on Tilidin, another opioid. From the first night (at least as far as I remember) my RLS was treated well but I started snoring, was extremely sleepy during the day and was shortly after diagnosed with sleep apnea. Changing my diet to keto helped a lot with that, to the point that I could return my CPAP machine to my healthcare supplier.

Just a quick update. I have switched from methadone to buprenorphine for 4 weeks now and have not noticed any sleep apnea events (I was before). I believe the switch has most likely helped with at least the central events. I am going to throw on the CPAP and get some measurements, but overall feel much more rested in the buprenorphine, even though I am getting less sleep than I was on the methadone. Take this for what it’s worth.
