Requip

Post by beetles »

As a new member, I've spent some time just looking at the past postings. I've spent the last two weeks trying to adjust to Requip. I'm wondering what experiences others have had with this drug, as mine has been pretty awful!!

Dear Beetles,

What side affects are you experiencing?

At the top of the page you will see a search icon, enter requip and it will bring up previous posts regarding this drug. Many people are finding relief with Requip, even though they may experience heart burn, nausea, headaches. Some find after a period of adjustment these side affects are greatly reduced. Some adjust the time that they take the medication helps with side affects. About 20% of us do not respond to the DAs or have had adverse reactions and have to use alternative treatments.

RE Requip

Post by wigglypain »

My MD put me on Requip and I tapered the dose up to 3mg at bedtime and then 1mg in the morning. The evening dose made me so nauseated. The morning doses make me so drowsy I can hardly stay awake. In my work I am the nurse providing sedation during outpatient cardiac procedures. I NEED to be on my toes. It is bad enough that the pain from my RLS keeps me on my toes(literally). I keep trying to tell the MD (I see a Rheumatologist about RLS), he has bee really great about until recent. I got my MS Contin changed to 15mg 3 times daily. I still have severe pain. 24/7. I am once again taking myself off Requip fully. I feel it is causing AUGMENTATION. Not to mention the worry from my partner.
My specialist in Augusta, Georgia is considering sending my to an RLS Pain specialist at Baylor. Thinks intrathecal morphine/dilaudid may be the best approach.

Been a real bear to live with and to work with lately. Been long time since "BAD THOUGHTS" have entered my mind. THE PAIN, PAIN, PAIN.
