I've been on it since 88 at 2.5 mgs per day and in 200 decided to get off and I'm down to 0.375 and looking forward to the day I'm off completely.

According to benzo.org.uk its worse getting off this junk than heroin and I believe it.

Hey Emily

I've been on as much as 2.75 mg. Clonazepam and am now down to .5 mg. I had no withdrawal coming down to that point, but had a horrible time trying to get off of the .5 mg. I've been on Clonazepam for over ten years.

I gave up and am back on it. My RLS was the worst I've ever, ever had. I don't know if I'll ever get off of it. I feel like a junkie.

I don't think so, but, I took a full 6 months to taper, and I was only on it for about the same. The last few cuts were literally small pieces of a tablet. I was also on Methadone. Now, I did have to increase my Methadone somewhere along there - maybe it was then and I just didn't put 2 and 2 together. I fought increasing it for a long time - after several months I bit the bullet and went to 15 mg (was as 10). After I did that, I haven't had any increases or changes in dose (over a year, maybe even more).

Emily---

Thanks for your support... I was going to say in another post to you that you never know how others are really doing, sometimes. I may sound like I'm doing okay, but I'm really not doing that great most of the time. My RLS is under control again, but I can't sleep, and that's about to drive me crazy.

Emily, I think YOU are doing great. I don't know how I'd handle what you're going through. I guess the point is we can't compare--and I can't compare myself to how others deal with meds and dependency, can I?

I've been on benzo.org.uk for months and I'm sure that the other med covered your withdrawal. It is almost impossible to taper off this much in 6 months. If so I'M glad for you...

Godd luck

I have been on clonazpam since 85 when I went to see a neuro dr about my jumping legs. He did an EEG which was normal and told me I had a bad habit with my legs and I would just have to get over it.

But he did me a scrip for clonazepam and I have been taking it ever since and I am now 70.

I do take 2mg's a night for sleep only because it never did a thing and still doesn't for my RLS. But I sleep good and have no intentions of going off of it now......Jeannie

I've been using clonazepam for a few years now. I take .5mg on an as needed basis. I guess I'm lucky, compared to what I'm reading here. I don't have rls symptoms every night. So I go to bed, and if I get the symptoms (within 20 to 40 minutes), then I get up and take a pill. I read elsewhere on the board that it seems to be cyclical, and that's true for me. I might go several weeks and have to take medication every day, then go for a week not needing any. So far, no ill effects from using clonazepam on a non-regular basis. I hope it never progresses further than this, though.

Hi Greensea and welcome to this board. I am glad that you do not have depend on meds everynight and hope that it continues for you.

Thank you for sharing that with us.

Have a nice evening.
