Codeine worked on long drives

Post by Yankiwi »

My GP prescribed 60mg codeine for long drives, movies and concerts.
Last week I used it on five occasions and it worked well on four. The first drive was in the morning so I waited until I had symptoms which sometimes don't appear in the morning. By waiting, the codeine didn't work at all. I even took another tablet about two and a half hours later which didn't help either. Taking the codeine about 15-20 minutes before the start of the drive was great. With the help of 1.5 ropinerol tablets and tramadol in the middle of the night I even slept fairly well for four nights in a row but just to make sure I didn't think I was "cured", my legs rebounded this morning and are aching some now. Time to get up and walk around.

Yes, I supplement quite successfully with codeine. I try to use 30 but sometimes use 60 for a specific occasion especially travel and movies.

30 never did squat for me, and it seemed if I took 30, then later another 30 , it was not effective, whereas if I took 60 right away, it was.
By waiting, the codeine didn't work at all. I even took another tablet about two and a half hours later which didn't help either.
This is exactly my experience too.

I was also medicated with other things and the 60 codeine was just for breakthrough.

I just got back from three days riding in a car for up to six hours in a day. By taking the 60mg codeine right at the beginning of the driveI had no symptoms at all -- bliss -- just like a normal person.

Yesterday we went on a seven hour bus trip out to the end of Farewell Spit, a 35k sandbar right at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. I left my codeine at the holiday rental because I took a backpack instead of my usual purse. Agony for up to an hour at a time until we got off a few times. The tour was brilliant though. I don't think I'll forget in the future.

Yes - we learn quite quickly that forgetting is very, very, very problematic!
