It could be something else, I suppose. Anything else different?

I'm in the US, so this drug isn't available to me; I've used Zofran without issue. But, this also brings up two important points. 1) We truly are incredibly different - few drugs react the same for all of us, and 2) It is SO hard to be sure that something is responsible for increased symptoms, as so many things can cause them!

Although Domperidone is a very large molecule that was designed not to cross the blood-brain barrier, as Ann indicates we are all different. The first generation anti-histamines are known to trigger RLS in many of us because they cross the blood-brain barrier. The second generation antihistamines were developed so that they would not cross the barrier. However, now the doctors are finding that a small portion of these second generation medications can cross the barrier in some individuals. As such, the RLS specialists now recommend that we avoid the use of antihistamines of all types until we can determine that it is "safe" to use them. So, maybe you have a similar sensitivity to domperidone.

I know it's been said before but it's odd what triggers rls and how it effects all of us differently. I, out of shear necessity, must use an antihistamine several times during the summer (severe itching). I can pretty much use any off brand antihistamine for perhaps three or four days before my rls acts up or responds to it. An added benefit is that for the first couple of days I actually will sleep somewhat better due to the effect of the antihistamine. Now as far as alcohol being a trigger…I am by no means a frequent drinker now although in a prior life several drinks a week was not out of the question. Currently, I will occasionally or would like to occasionally have a drink on special occasions or holidays. I hate wine so that is out of the question. I like the sweet drink variety. But, I cannot drink even a small amount of liquors such as Baileys Irish Cream or Amaretto without paying for it that evening. However, if I have a moderate rum and coke I am gernerally ok. Again, I am always amazed how such different "things" effect us all so differently. I guess this is one reason why rls can be so baffling with respect to finding a more universal and lasting treatment approach. Anyway, jakeday, I hope that you will be able to find something that will be of benefit to you without jacking up the rls.

Wishing all here some peace this night.
