Cleveland, June 20, 2005 – Doctors at the Southwest Cleveland Sleep Center are seeking to enroll individuals experiencing the symptoms of Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) into a clinical research study involving an investigational use of a marketed drug. RLS is characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs usually associated with uncomfortable sensations in the legs. The urge to move or uncomfortable sensations begin or worsen during periods of rest or inactivity, are at least temporarily relieved by movement and are worse in the evening or at night.
Men or women interested in participating in this study must be at least 18 and up to 79 years of age. Upon signing an informed consent form, volunteers will undergo a screening visit to determine if they meet entry criteria and to collect background information about their RLS symptoms. Participants will be asked to complete 12 scheduled visits over the course of 14 weeks.
All office visits, medical evaluations, and study medications related to this study will be provided at no charge to the patients. Participants may also be given some compensation for their travel and other incidental expenses.
