I just had an accidental drug holiday last night. Didn't sleep at all, legs and arms twitching. I thought I was augmenting already so I didn't take any more pramipexole. Just tough it out.

In the morning I noticed a pink chunk of something on the bathroom counter - the quarter tablet of pramipexole that I hadn't taken the previous night.

I take three different meds before bedtime. Put them all in the palm of my hand and toss them into my mouth. Pretty sure the very small quarter tablet got stuck in the crease of my palm and didn't go where it was supposed to. It fell onto the counter instead.

I'm relieved I found it because I probably would have upped my next dose.

And I just now remembered that I have some acetaminophen/codeine tabs (somewhere in the house) that I could have taken if I had thought of it. Sheesh.

not funny but funny. I'm glad it fell somewhere where you would notice it.

After a very bad night it's quite a relief to discover a pill that should have been taken.

On the subject of a dropped pill, this always worries me in case I drop a pill and don't realise it. Grandchildren are scampering around our home several times each week. It has been drummed into them that if they ever find a little pill that will probably look like a tiny sweetie, they should come and get me and never ever pick it up.
All medications are safely kept in baskets on top of the wardrobe but it's when they are being sorted that little accidents can happen.

PB, I have the same concern over dropped pills...whenever my mother visits, I find random pills on the stairwell or under her luggage after she leaves. I realized she was piling her pills on counters, often to remind herself to take them at some point but often forgetting. She was also walking from her room on the second floor to the kitchen on the first floor while balancing a handful of pills in her hand. I finally gave her small ramekin dishes to hold her pills and stopped finding the random pills. I also have a husband who likes to pile his pills/supplements in the palm of his hand and throw them into his mouth. Not every pill makes it. Drove me crazy. But eventually he stopped. Takes a few years to train them. I have my own butterfingers with pills, usually at night when I'm out of my mind tired, so I started pouring out pills over the open drawer of my side bed table. It always catches any strays and I don't have to worry about a straggler pill landing in the bed and eventually the floor, or simply falling onto the floor and bouncing around.

I make up two weeks' worth of daily pill dispensers at a time.
To do this I use a large tray plus a couple of small ramekin type dishes. Each medication at a time, into the small dish, then into the dispenser. The tray catches any possible strays when filling the dispensers.
However, it is almost impossible to find a good daily dispenser with 4 sections that have strong lids secure enough not to occasionally get knocked open when in my purse. So in my purse the dispenser is strangled with rubber bands as a further security measure.

I think you did the right thing by firing your doctor. A GP should not undercut a specialist like that, and should not treat you like that. That is unprofessional, judgmental, and ignorant behavior. I hope you've been able to find a new doctor that you like.

It makes me so mad that you are put in the position of having to choose between effective medication on the one hand and social stigma and availability problems on the other hand. Hopefully you find something else that works for you.
