Good luck with the Gabapentin, I wish you well.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms
I think I'm feeling better, even though it's not over yet. I am supposed to walk 60 min. a day. I have accomplished that, plus I'm allowed to start using my recumbent bike. All of this will help bring the nerves that were blocked come alive. So happy about that. I ride when the spasms start. I am hopeful.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms
I've made more progress. Last week I was able to get into our vechicle by my self. This week I can now get into drivers side, so I can drive. Our SUV is a little higher than most. Started out using a little step.
Walking is going well. No longer using the walker. I do use the small cart at the store for 30 min. At home no walker, 30 min. Bike, 45 min. 6.5 miles. All everyday.
Still having spasms, but I am getting some sleep. Only taking Methadone, 2.5 mg every 6 hours and Gabapentine, 600 mg TID.
It has been 6.5 weeks since surgery.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms
Last night was the first night that I didn't have spasms all night long ( like waking me up every two hours ).
They woke me up after the first 2 hours. Then I walked for 30 min. Went back to bed and sleep 9 hours, with a bathroom break.
It's the afternoon and I'm sleepy again. I just walked another 30 min. Maybe nerves are getting better.

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms
I slept last night without any spasms. It is the third night since the surgery, which was 8 weeks ago. 11 hours
I want to wait until I have many nights in a row before I try to wean off methadone then maybe the gabapentin.
I did have a few spasms while I was watching TV. I got up, they went away, then sat back down. That was all.
Yeah!!

Re: Back Surgery and RLS plus spasms
Wonderful news. At this point, even if you cannot get completely off of the meds, you are still so much better than before. Makes me a bit envious
